I finished classes yesterday, and had no plans for today, so I decided to go to MOMA and check out their new exhibits. On the second floor, there is a wonderful performance art piece titled Performance 9: Allora & Calzadilla. Every hour, on the half hour, an artist plays the fourth movement of Beethoven’s ninth Symphony (Ode to Joy). However, there is a hole carved out of the piano, where the artist stands—forcing him/her to play both upside down and backwards! While playing, the artist simultaneously moves throughout the atrium!

I also really enjoyed the New Photography 2010: Roe Ethridge, Elad Lassry, Alex Prager, Amanda Ross-Ho exhibit. In particular, I enjoyed Alex Prager's work the most. I found his photographs to be very high glamor, even if the content was mundane. They also looked like advertisements, and bore a great resemblance to the Miu Miu print campaigns.

Lazy Summer Days.

It was a sweltering 89 degrees with 47% humidity today in NYC. I bought something at the MOMA design store a few weeks ago, and got a free museum admission with my purchase, so I decided to escape the heat and head uptown for a wonderful day at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). I didn't have too, too much time to spend in the museum, but I definitely got the highlights.
Afterward, I met Madeline at Stuffed Artisan Cannoli on the LES. They have so many flavors! I had peanut butter cup, girl scout cookie and key lime pie—I didn't think I'd like key lime pie, but all three were amazing! They have around 75 flavors, and many of them (like key lime pie) are seasonal. I can't wait to go back in the fall and get a pumpkin cannoli!

MOMA

I spent a lovely, lovely afternoon with my friends Stephen, Patrick and Phillip at the MOMA! We finally got to see the Tim Burton exhibit, which was tres magnifique! His early work is truly breathtaking—who knew Tim Burton was much more than a director? The exhibit had sketches, sculptures, paintings and short films that Burton made in his childhood to cure his boredom! wow.

Today's weather was superb, so I wore the outfit I thrifted yesterday. the linley was quite pleased.

Alice in Wonderland

I have been SO excited for Alice in Wonderland since I heard that Tim Burton was doing a re-make about a year ago and today, I learned it’s showing in 3D!! Last year, I totally owned prom committee, and while our official theme was abstract and non-descript, it was actually Alice in Wonderland, because I’m amazing that way.

Once I get back to ny, I plan on seeing the Tim Burton exhibit at the moma with Stephen and Charlie. I've heard from two of my friends that it's super, super crowded, but COMPLETELY worth it.


Youth in Revolt

1. I have adored Michael Cera ever since I saw him in Arrested Development. He is the paradigm, the dictionary definition if you will, of the awkward but lovable teenage boy. 
2. It was filmed in MI AND they wanted to film it at my school, but the administration said no because the plot is about Cera's character and his quest to lose his virginity at boarding school.
