First week of senior year

One (almost two!) weeks done, only I don't know how many left until graduation. I can't believe that it's already my last year of college. Ever since I came back from abroad, time has gone by so fast. Seriously, junior year went by so fast. I feel like I say this a lot, but this year I actually want to do all the things I've never had time to do. Not sure how I'll fit that in with school, internship and work, but I always seem to manage. 

This past week was fashion week, so looking at the collections kept me pretty engaged every night. Check out my fashion week post for a round up of all my favorite collections and looks. One of the biggest trends I'm excited about is colored hair extensions! I tried coloring my hair (somewhat unsuccessfully) over the summer, and seeing all the collections might be the push I need to actually commit and bleach my hair......but baby steps for now.

Besides fashion, my week was filled with my usual. Food, new friends, new classes, new notebooks, etc. My suitemates and I went to Social Eatz to celebrate senior year. Everything was amazing. I got the asian market salad and ribs appetizer. But the fried chicken (which my suitemate got) was outstanding. Next time I go, I am definitely getting the fried chicken. The drinks were fruity....but super strong. ick.

My week in shoes.

This week I did an abnormal amount of shoe shopping (for me at least). Since I ended up staying in the city for Memorial Day, I devoted the whole day to shoe shopping. At the end of the day I had picked up two new pairs of heels, and two pairs of black flats for work, but I wasn't very happy with my black flats. Friday, I had to go uptown which gave me the perfect opportunity to go to the Lincoln Center Century 21. There, I found a pair of black patent leather Cole Haan loafers which I quite like, so I will be returning the previous two pairs of black flats. I'm very pleased with my three new pairs—loafers, an everyday wedge and crazy tall heels for parties. I think I'll need to take some time to edit my shoe collection now; out with the old and in with the new!

Thankfully, the weather cooled down this week. I think low 70s are perfect. I've been doing a lot of walking around the city, usually with a vanilla milkshake in hand.
Speaking of sweets, I had a really yummy raspberry bread pudding treat from Sarabeth's for lunch after my first 'bad' day at my internship. I realized afterwards that when I said what happened out loud (missing shopping bag of very expensive handbags that was eventually found, sent the wrong color bag to a magazine, etc.) it really wasn't that bad as I didn't lose or damage anything and I was able to resolve them in the end. Also this week at my internship, more interns started, including one who works with me. Of all the interns, I am so, so glad that we work together. As you can imagine in anything related to fashion, there are lots of personalities, but I happened to work with the girl who I get along with the best.

I was also able to go see the Costume Exhibit: Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations. The idea of the exhibit is interesting, putting two designers whose only similarities are that they are women and Italian in dialogue with each other, literally. Throughout the exhibit there are videos of impossible conversations between Elsa Schiaparelli (a designer from the 1930s,  played by Judy Davis) and Miuccia Prada. I was not a fan of the videos and found them incredibly distracting. I really liked the Prada clothes, and especially the shoes, but I didn't like the Schiaparelli stuff. You could definitely tell it was from another era and didn't quite go with the Prada. Overall I liked it.

Summer in the city

My first week back in the city has flown by! I started a new internship at KCD and I love it. As a PR intern, my main responsibilities involve the showroom and maintaining the samples and sending them out to magazines, celebrities, etc. Everyday is kind of like a reality tv show.....lots of big personalities, but it keeps my long days interesting. Unfortunately it rained almost everyday last week, so no outfit pics. I promise they will come!
One of the perks of working in Chelsea is eating lunch in Chelsea Market every day! I'm quite drawn to the Lobster Place's salads and soups, but I just discovered a pie place! I've only tried the Thai chicken curry one but it was delish!

Friday night, I went to a surprise party for my friend Tina! It was at Butter, but we ate quite late, so I got an appetizer and a side instead of an entree. I got crab cakes with potato gnocchi. And I tried some of Melisa's duck, which was really really good.

After the party, I wasn't feeling very good, so I planned on relaxing this weekend. Instead, I ended up having a lot of fun on Saturday with my friends! First, I met up with Joe and Johnny in WSP where we watched light saber fights, and a gang of little kids on skate boards (they were actually very good). Then David and Gian called, inviting us to go to Shake Shack with Gian's family visiting from the Philippines. The line wasn't too bad, but while we were waiting for the food, a thunderstorm passed by, leaving David and I stranded in the middle of the park, while everyone else ran under the trees. Afterwards, Gian's dad took us to Big Gay Ice Cream shop where I got a cinnamax ice cream sandwich (cinnamon ice cream and snickerdoodles).

And then I ended the weekend with an afternoon of shoe shopping! I found lots of deals thanks to the Memorial Day sales. Not exactly the beach weekend I was hoping for, but super fun nevertheless.

Barneys Warehouse Sale

I (unexpectedly) went to the warehouse sale this past Tuesday with my Production bosses. This was my first time going to the sale with other people, so it was really fun trying on designer clothes and shoes that we couldn't afford, but saw on the runway. I didn't have any success with the clothing. There were a few Phillip Lim sweaters that were nice, but still out of my price range.
However, I did find some shoes! I ended up getting a pair of jelly See by Chloe sandals and Maloles Paris wedges. I've already worn both pairs twice! and I think I'm going to get a lot of usage out from the wedges.

last weekend in Shanghai.

ok, so this isn't actually my last weekend in Shanghai, but it was my last weekend with my friends. There are only three days left in the semester (including today) and I couldn't be happier! I have so much work to do between now and Thursday, but I've made really, really good friends this semester. I think it's a pretty good trade off. Anyway, my friends Eunice, Nick, Nick, Ray, Gian, Lauren and Jeff wanted to hit up the fabric market and one of the fake markets one last time before they all went back to the states.
We decided to go to the Science & Technology Museum market, which is conveniently located in the subway station! It was my first time going, and Eunice and I really wanted to get Toms that we saw a few other girls at school wearing. They had really cool patterns and colors that we had never seen before. And all the boys wanted to get watches.
Afterwards, we went to the fabric market so all the Sternies (aka everyone except me) could pick up their suits. Last time Eunice went, she got also got an Hermes wallet that I really wanted, but they sadly did not have the style in cerulean, only boring colors like black and tan. So I got a Celine-esque clutch instead!

hello kitty vans collection (!!)

This June, Hello Kitty and Vans will be teaming up to create an insanely cute collaboration—the Hello Kitty Vans Collection! I'm admittedly a huge hello kitty fan, and I think this collaboration with Vans (the epitome of street style) takes Hello Kitty into a less familiar direction.

Prices range from $37 for the children's slip on, to $55 for the high tops and will be available in Vans stores/online and select Sanrio boutiques/online.

Christian Siriano x Payless

Christian Siriano has been collaborating with Payless shoe store for a few seasons now, and the shoes are always crazy, avant garde but affordable! And, he always uses them in his runway show, which I appreciate. This season, the shoes are so chic! I would definitely wear them.

I came across these shoes when I was looking at an online store for the first time. These are Jeffrey Campbells, which I have decided is my favorite brand of heels. Not only are they chic, but they are so incredibly comfortable for 5.25" I can't believe it!! I have two pairs right now, and these would make a nice addition. (click the pic for more info)

desert boots.

I've secretly been wanting desert boots for a few weeks now, but it wasn't until last week when one of my friends agreed that desert boots can be cute for girls too that I knew I wanted desert boots. I thought I'd be searching for awhile, but I found a pair on Black Friday! They aren't Clarks, but that's ok because I wanted either a navy or army green color, and Clarks only come in various shades of brown for women. I'm so excited to wear them this week!

I'm usually not big on trends, just because I know they won't work on me, and high heel clogs were no different—or so I thought. A few weeks ago I saw a women crossing Centre st and low and behold, she was wearing the coveted Chanel clogs! Then, while shoe shopping at home, my mom found these beautiful Jeffrey Campbell clogs! Boasting a 5.25 inch heel, the shoes are so comfy yet chic and urban! However, I've had so many issues with them. The first pair I got literally broke as I tried them on to show my mom! The second pair broke after wearing them once. I'm incredibly upset because the shoes are amazing and none of my friends have clogs, yet.

Before picking up my sister from school the other day, I decided to drop by a different Nordstrom Rack to see if they had the shoes I wanted (see previous post). I was fully ready to pay the $70 price tag, but I was pleasantly surprised! They only cost $40 at this Nordstrom Rack! I grabbed the shoes, paid and went to pick up my sister. And I've been wearing them ever since. well, inside the house that is.

See, I use to wear heels of the four inch variety every monday, without fail. My high school dress code included formal or dress up mondays. Every monday boys would have to wear an oxford shirt, dress slacks (or at least khakis), dress shoes and a tie. The girls' dress code was a tad abstract, but you get the point. Anyway, I would wear heels without question on Mondays, but sometimes during the week if the outfit demanded it. I was quite good at wearing heels I must say. However, this ended in early May, which is when I was last in school. Meaning, I haven't worn heels regularly in seven months. So, with good reason, I need to build back up to my days of running around (literally) campus in four inch heels!

I've been wearing my new shoes around the house (it did JUST snow yesterday) in preparation for romping around the streets of New York.
