photo of the day.

I don't remember how, but I randomly found a blog post about a late photographer's website which features a Polaroid per day, for 18 years. The blogger talks about his initial joy and amusement when he first found the website. Then, as he looked at more and more of the photographer's pictures, the blogger tried to piece together who the photographer was and eventually figured out that it was Jamie Livingston.
I love the idea of a picture every day because it's a scrapbook of your life and daily adventures, however big or small.

fall booties.

H&M

Steve Madden

Aldo
Lately, I've had my eye out for a stylish, yet comfy and sturdy pair of high heel booties. So far, the best and most affordable three I've found are from Aldo, H&M and Steve Madden. I actually bought the H&M ones today, compulsively, and now I'm starting to regret it. I'm surrently leaning towards the Aldo ones, but I'm still unsure.

Hamptons getaway and other Long Island adventures.

This past weekend I made the two hour trip on the Long Island Rail Road with Stephen to my friend Johnny's house in Mastic Beach. We had dinner Friday night in Southampton and then explored East Hampton after dinner. And then we went to the beach on Saturday.
This was my first trip to the Hamptons, so everything I knew about the Hamptons came from what I learned through either Royal Pains, Real Housewives of New York or Gossip Girl, and I can say they did not disappoint! I didn't see any celebrities, but someone was snapping pictures of me and my platforms—that was sorta cool.

I'm not really the type of person who feels the need to tan. I rather like my natural skin color—pale with a hint of color. So when I heard that going to the beach was on the agenda I (admittedly) had a panic attack. I've gone tanning maybe once before—I didn't even have a suit! So I had to go out and get a bathing suit which caused an enormous amount of anxiety. Mid August isn't exactly prime bathing suit selling season, but I tried to keep my hopes up, I do live in Soho after all. I went to a few stores, but was having zero luck and then I went into Topshop, just because I knew they were having a huge sale on their summer items, and it turns out bathing suits were half off! I grabbed the first black one piece that I could live with and tried it on. done and done.
So, we go to the beach, set up our little spot and go into the water. I've never been in the Atlantic Ocean before, but Stephen assured me it's warm. It was a tad chilly on Saturday, but nothing I couldn't handle. My beach experience wasn't so bad. I even got a smidge tan.
we had BOSTON COOLERS!!!!

(faux) furryness.

This entire year, I've been embarrassingly behind on my magazine reading. And I've almost caught up, I just have the Elle magazines left! So for my plane ride home last week, I grabbed a few magazines in another attempt to catch up. As I was reading on the plane, it hit me: I need a fur vest. I couldn't wait to hit up the thrift and vintage stores once I got back to New York. Well, we went to Nordstrom on the last day of their anniversary sale to look at a pair of loafers (we couldn't find them) and found a faux fur vest instead! I got the cream one, and I'm so, so excited to wear it this fall and winter with all my flowy, chiffon skirts and suede boots!

Fall part deux.

I did some light shopping today after my last doctor's appointment and I picked up some great boots for the fall! I've never been that big into leather/suede boots until last winter because I never thought I could pull them off. But, I embraced my boots and soon enough, I was wearing them with everything! Today, I was browsing the racks, and just as I was about to give up, I found these Report boots, and they were on sale, so I got them in both brown and black!
