My week in fashion and fried chicken.

This week seemed like an eternity—I've been busy busy busy everyday. My week started off with a work event, the CFDA awards (which you can watch online at style.com!). I must say, I think working the red carpet was the most star struck I've ever been since moving to New York. Seeing the designers I love, in person was amazing. You can even see me in the background of this picture of Karolina Kurkova!!

This week, as always, was filled with lots of food, especially Korean fried chicken (which I had twice this week :/). BonChon's friend chicken is so good though, I simply can't resist when I pass it! I've also been trying many of Sarabeth's pastries. So far I've had the raspberry bread pudding, a berry crumble (can't remember the exact name), a pain au raisin, and a pain du matin—all incredibly delicious. I've been dreaming of the raspberry bread pudding....must revist soon. I also went back to Tuck Shop this week and tried the traditional beef pie with a side of mashed potatoes. Wasn't expecting ground beef, but it went well with the mashed potatoes. Today, I had an awesome brunch at NoHo Star with Eunice. I got the french toast, but lost the pictures.

I had to get a new phone today, because my lock button suddenly stopped working last night. It was the first time I've ever used the Apple Genius Bar, and I must say, even though it was crazy busy, the guy I had was so nice and friendly!! It was a great experience overall, and I was so relieved that I could get a new phone for free because I had 16 days left in the warranty. Hello brand new Agyness! I did feel a slight pang of sadness when I realized I had lost my pictures of the Chanel exhibit I saw today (but I do have three posters!), but I have a fully functioning phone in return.

My week in shoes.

This week I did an abnormal amount of shoe shopping (for me at least). Since I ended up staying in the city for Memorial Day, I devoted the whole day to shoe shopping. At the end of the day I had picked up two new pairs of heels, and two pairs of black flats for work, but I wasn't very happy with my black flats. Friday, I had to go uptown which gave me the perfect opportunity to go to the Lincoln Center Century 21. There, I found a pair of black patent leather Cole Haan loafers which I quite like, so I will be returning the previous two pairs of black flats. I'm very pleased with my three new pairs—loafers, an everyday wedge and crazy tall heels for parties. I think I'll need to take some time to edit my shoe collection now; out with the old and in with the new!

Thankfully, the weather cooled down this week. I think low 70s are perfect. I've been doing a lot of walking around the city, usually with a vanilla milkshake in hand.
Speaking of sweets, I had a really yummy raspberry bread pudding treat from Sarabeth's for lunch after my first 'bad' day at my internship. I realized afterwards that when I said what happened out loud (missing shopping bag of very expensive handbags that was eventually found, sent the wrong color bag to a magazine, etc.) it really wasn't that bad as I didn't lose or damage anything and I was able to resolve them in the end. Also this week at my internship, more interns started, including one who works with me. Of all the interns, I am so, so glad that we work together. As you can imagine in anything related to fashion, there are lots of personalities, but I happened to work with the girl who I get along with the best.

I was also able to go see the Costume Exhibit: Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations. The idea of the exhibit is interesting, putting two designers whose only similarities are that they are women and Italian in dialogue with each other, literally. Throughout the exhibit there are videos of impossible conversations between Elsa Schiaparelli (a designer from the 1930s,  played by Judy Davis) and Miuccia Prada. I was not a fan of the videos and found them incredibly distracting. I really liked the Prada clothes, and especially the shoes, but I didn't like the Schiaparelli stuff. You could definitely tell it was from another era and didn't quite go with the Prada. Overall I liked it.

Summer in the city

My first week back in the city has flown by! I started a new internship at KCD and I love it. As a PR intern, my main responsibilities involve the showroom and maintaining the samples and sending them out to magazines, celebrities, etc. Everyday is kind of like a reality tv show.....lots of big personalities, but it keeps my long days interesting. Unfortunately it rained almost everyday last week, so no outfit pics. I promise they will come!
One of the perks of working in Chelsea is eating lunch in Chelsea Market every day! I'm quite drawn to the Lobster Place's salads and soups, but I just discovered a pie place! I've only tried the Thai chicken curry one but it was delish!

Friday night, I went to a surprise party for my friend Tina! It was at Butter, but we ate quite late, so I got an appetizer and a side instead of an entree. I got crab cakes with potato gnocchi. And I tried some of Melisa's duck, which was really really good.

After the party, I wasn't feeling very good, so I planned on relaxing this weekend. Instead, I ended up having a lot of fun on Saturday with my friends! First, I met up with Joe and Johnny in WSP where we watched light saber fights, and a gang of little kids on skate boards (they were actually very good). Then David and Gian called, inviting us to go to Shake Shack with Gian's family visiting from the Philippines. The line wasn't too bad, but while we were waiting for the food, a thunderstorm passed by, leaving David and I stranded in the middle of the park, while everyone else ran under the trees. Afterwards, Gian's dad took us to Big Gay Ice Cream shop where I got a cinnamax ice cream sandwich (cinnamon ice cream and snickerdoodles).

And then I ended the weekend with an afternoon of shoe shopping! I found lots of deals thanks to the Memorial Day sales. Not exactly the beach weekend I was hoping for, but super fun nevertheless.

the shoes I really, really wanted. but they did not have black.

A short stay at home

This year, I was able to go home for 10 days immediately after I finished finals, and before I started my new internship. I think it's really important to have some down time between major activities, such as school, internships, jobs, etc. I don't know how some of the interns finished school, and then started interning the following Monday!
The night before I left for home, my suitemate and I feasted (again) at Madison Sq Eats to celebrate the end of another school year. I definitely want to go back before it closes in early June. This time I got food from three different stalls: Bee Sting pizza from Roberta's Pizza, sugar cookie dough and tea time ice cream from Steve's and a nutella arancini from Arancini Bros. I would definitely recommend the pizza and the arancini (I want to go back and try a savory one!).

At home, my visit revolved around my sister, Laine's spring musical, which she starred in! She played Marcy Park in 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Lots of fun and surprises at every performance!
and lastly, (but perhaps most importantly?) I ate lots of food.

An ode to food.

It is the night before my last final of the year. I am so freaking excited for many things:

  1. the end of another successful school year
  2. to be done with science (after a rather painful two semesters) forever!
  3. to be a senior
  4. and finally, for summer and my super exciting internship!
Here are some lovely pictures of the things I have eaten in the past few weeks. When it comes to exams, I think food, sleep and tv are the best remedy.
