my week in food truck faves

There are only two and a half weeks of school left and I couldn't be happier! After a long school year (though it went by super fast!) I am more than ready for summer!
Since it is now officially spring (though at times the weather says otherwise) some of my favorite food trucks are back! Last weekend, I went to the Big Gay Ice Cream shop, Waffle & Dinges Truck and Kelvin Slush in 24 hours! But I just couldn't help it! The weather was so nice and my tummy was very happy. At Big Gay, I decided to try the Mermaid, which is a vanilla ice cream cup with key lime curd, crushed graham crackers and whipped cream. Light and refreshing! I've been meaning to try the cococone (since I am very into coconut these days) and the horchata shake.

At Waffle Truck I tried three days in a row to get their waffle of the week, which was a liege waffle with peach/apricot preserves, spekuloos and whipped cream. By Saturday I had given up, until I saw an update aroun 10:30pm saying a truck was actually on St. Marks! So my suitemate and I went and enjoyed our waffles with all the crazy people on St. Marks.

I think the Arnold Palmer plus a fruit mix in is truly Kelvin Slush's best slush (though I have yet to try a slush with ice cream, saving that one for a hot day), so for my first slush of the season I had to go with my favorite. I got the Arnold Palmer with pink guava mix in. I was really pleased to see they have many more fruit mix ins this year. And luckily for me, Kelvin Slush is always near Union Sq so I'll have many opportunities to try the different combos!

Thursday, there was some free food event at school if you downloaded an app called Fondu. Sadly, I missed it literally by a minute! (I was in line furiously downloading the app when they said the event was over) So I consoled myself by getting Waffle Truck anyway, but I got a wafle cone with spekuloos cookie ice cream.

On Friday, the office wanted to take a chocolate break. So we went to Nunu Chocolates and I chose a bacon toffee bar. It was interesting. The toffee was super hard/sticky and I was scared I might chip a tooth. But the mix with bacon was much better than I expected.

Don't remember which day, but I opted to eat in the park, and I stumbled upon some lovely chalk art, including this adorable Totoro!
