Embellished collar DIY

I decided to go to the Manhattan outpost of Beacon's Closet today, not looking for anything in particular. The store is arranged much like the Williamsburg store (which is three times bigger, by color. On my way out, I came across this dress in the black section. It's hard to tell if it's black or navy, and it has lots of red polka dot type things. I tried it on, and it fit! So I got it, with some very grand plans in mind.

First up, chop off the sleeves and make it a sleeveless dress. Farewell sleeves!
Then, I knew I had leftover pearls from a costume a few years back, so it was time to outline the collar.

And here's the final result!
Much more youthful, in my opinion. I'm still debating whether or not to cut a few inches off the hem. I think while it's cold and I'll be wearing tights anyway, it's fine. But come summer, snip snip!

semi diy project.

I saw a tulle skirt at Forever 21 the other day in dark gray, which I thought would be a great addition to my closet. The only problem? It was full length, and me being 5'2", full length is not ideal. But, I was inspired by my friend Madeline who is constantly cutting her skirts and dresses shorter, and decided to get the skirt, and cut it to a suitable length. Cutting it was a little trickier than I expected. It was hard to cut straight, and I had to go back and even out some parts. And the top layer of the tulle is pleated, so it was hard to cut that layer evenly, but I think it still turned out ok.
imagine this skirt, but in a dark gray, and without the tiers.

still busy.

I'm still quite busy, but I shall take a short break and explain why today was a decent day:
1. [finally] remembered to pick up my re-soled sandals.
2. participated so much in ace (my writing class). I was quite proud of myself!
3. had an iced-coffee. Iced-coffee makes me happy.
4. made plans with my high school friend, Kate for lunch at Katz's tomorrow.

Also, I'm definitely going to do a diy (do-it-yourself) project this summer, inspired by the Alexander Wang x Opening Ceremony tote bag. It's just a simple black canvas bag with studs, but I'm so excited because I've always wanted to stud something!
Finally, the weather forecast is rain until Wednesday morning, but after that it's high 60s-low70s all weekend! Hello spring wardrobe!!
